Robert Breaton, son of Clare Breaton, a Perth of 7Pl, A Coy, sent these photos in memory of his father who died recently. A few things to note – in the portrait image of Clare, you can see that he is wearing the 8th Army Crusader patch on the epaulettes of his BD Blouse. This procedure was strictly prohibited, but many of the guys were so proud of their association with the 8th Army, they just did it anyway. And, putting up the patch distinguished the wearer from all those Canucks who couldn’t claim the honour of being a D-Day Dodger.
"This is to advise you that my father, Clarence Breaton, who was a member of the Perth Regiment, (A Company, 7th Platoon) and had fought in Italy during the Second World War, passed away today, July 28, 2009 at 86 years old." Robert Breaton
